I am in the process of making name badges for a fire department. They want Velcro on the back. I have the sew on Velcro. Do you all sew it on with as sewing machine or do you attach the Velcro using your embroider machine after you have embroidered the name and border?
We have a customer that we make shrouds for using 10 oz. duck canvas
material that needs closures on all 4 sides and use a great velcro
product that may suit your needs. It's a Peel & Stick Velcro (Sticky
Back for Fabrics) that works wonderfully. Its easy to apply and
provides a permanent bond to fabrics with no sewing, gluing or ironing
required. The item# is either 91878 or 105011 depending how the vendor
catalogs it. 1 package contains 24" L x 3/4" W velcro (both sides) and
you just cut to size you need. I've found it sometimes at Walmart or
JoAnn's Fabrics but you definitely can find it on-line less
expensively. Comes in Black & White I believe. Once again it works
great and is a very strong bond, so place on your badge carefully
because once it's applied it will not come off or allow for
re-positioning. Also allow 24 hours for set up for maximum bond.
Hope this helps!. Good Luck with your project.
